Only a small part of Bulgaria’s Roma population lives on social security, according to a survey conducted by Open Society.

Contrary to the widespread notion that Bulgarian Roma do not work because they rely on child benefits, just 4.3% of the Roma minority group in the country receive maternity benefits and child benefits for children under 1 year of age, the survey has concluded.
